What is a Tennis Leader?
Tennis leaders support coaches, volunteers and teachers to deliver tennis sessions on court, and support the running of a venue or event. They are a role model to younger players, members and school children, and inspire others to play.
Off-court, they can also help volunteers, teachers and club committees to make sure tennis is relevant, accessible, rewarding and enjoyable by providing ideas.
This programme is an excellent way for youth players to gain leadership opportunities across tennis, sport and beyond, whatever their interests.
What are the benefits?
Youth players who have completed a Tennis Leaders course have seen the benefits go beyond tennis into other sports and life skills, and many have gone on to enjoy careers in tennis or sport.
Parents have fed back that their children have grown in confidence, found their voice, discovered a love of helping others to learn and continued to enjoy learning to play because of their newfound purpose and challenge.
What is involved
To become a Tennis Leader, trainees need to complete a minimum of the core and one elective learning module. Here at Pin Point Tennis Team we will take them through all of the elective learning modules to expand their knowledge and skills.
Trainees will work alongside their coach mentor for one group per week during term time and work on a section of their workbook off court with the coach. For example: on court with a group from 3:45pm to 4:30pm, then off court workbook from 4:30pm to 4:45pm.
Tennis Leaders modules:
- Core module | Introduction to leading tennis
- Elective module | Helping at a coaching session
