Why do we recommend groups over 1-2-1's
Private lessons are great if you need very specific work on a shot or part of your game in a very controlled environment. The very controlled environment is why we recommend groups over 1-2-1's, especially for youth players (hence our rules above).
Game Play or even rallying with another player of a similar level is not a controlled environment and anything can happen, this is why players need to train with others so they develop a wide range of skills to deal with anything. If they are only playing against a coach or the majority of their learning is in that very controlled environment, your missing out on so much.
There is also the social side of the game and life, which many people underestimate and undervalue. Get involved in groups and if we are concerned or if they have an upcoming tournament then we can talk about 1-2-1'2, otherwise let them play and learn!
Let players develop at their own speed, some will pick up certain aspects quicker than others and that's nothing to worry about. Rather than jump to "I want my child to have private lessons," instead talk to Head Coach Gemma who will find out if there are any concerns.
